Operator cabins for gantry cranes

Gantry Crane - crane, whose supporting elements of construction are based on the crane way using two supporting pillars.

Gantry cranes are usually used for service of open (sometimes roofed) warehouses, mainly piece cargo, containers and timberfor mounting of prefabricated industrial and civil buildings, maintenance, hydropower plants and sectional mounting in shipbuilding. They are made mainly hook or special handling devices. Crane span of general purpose usually 4-40 m, servicing of shipbuilding building berth up to 170 m. Load capacity of cranes is 3-50 tons, and for maintenance and hydropower plants building berth reaches 400-800 m (in some cases, 1,600 tons - two trucks with 800 tonnes). Movement of cranes (the speed of 20-100 m / min) is often the working movement, with small load rating as the trolley used self-propelled electric hoists. For the installation of large items (eg, in shipbuilding) used two cranes with trolley, allowing cargo to turn over box on weight. Cranes of building purpose having variable job, executed self erecting.

 Workstation Gantry Cranes

 Workstation gantry cranes are used to lift and transport smaller items around a working area in a factory or machine shop. Some workstation gantry cranes are equipped with an enclosed track, while others use an I-beam, or other extruded shapes, for the running surface. Most workstation gantry cranes are intended to be stationary when loaded, and mobile when unloaded. Workstation Gantry Cranes can be outfitted with either a Wire Rope hoist as shown in the above hoist (device) picture or a lower capacity Chain Hoist.

 Rail Mounted or EOT Gantry Cranes

 Electrical Overhead Travelling (EOT) cranes or Gantry Cranes are commonly found in factory applications such as steel yards, paper mills or locomotive repair shops. The EOT gantry crane functions similarly to an overhead bridge crane, but has rails installed on the ground and gantry-style legs to support the crane. Capacities range from 2 to 200 tons, and sometimes even greater capacities. Most are electrically powered and painted safety yellow.

When bridge cranes and Gantry cranes became more popular in factories in the late 1800s a steam engine was sometimes used as a way to power these devices. The lifting and moving would be transferred from a fixed line shaft. The picture on the right shows an example of system powered by a line shaft and steam engine. The overhead crane is from 1875, and was one of the first systems to be powered in such a way.

Equipment of control cabins for foundry cranes:

  1. Construction of crane cabin is made of steel pipe sections welded together.
  2. Indoor and outdoor construction crane control cabin is made of steel sheet, 2.5 mm thick, forming a strong element.
  3. The cavities are filled with insulation (mineral wool) with a thickness of 50 mm.
  4. The floor is made of multilayer removable panels and covered a dielectric mat. Cables and wires lay under the floor. In the space provided for the underground tunnel for cable needed to connect electrical equipment in operator control unit.
  5. The windows are made of transparent glass triplex.
  6. Provided the opening of the upper front window and upper side windows on the gas springs. Glass mounted inside the control cabin with the pressure angles, allows an easy replacement of glass. Privacy applies to all windows triple protection along the perimeter of the crane cabin.
  7. Protective grille on the lower glasses consists of two parts: the upper - removable to allow cleaning the glass, lower - not removable.
  8. Ceiling lamp 2 * 18W with switch, 220 V lamp connected by wires, which are brought under the floor.
  9. Possible lacquering and painting at the option of the Customer in accordance with the classification of colors RAL. According to GOST: the outer surface - yellow RAL 1003, interior - gray RAL 7047.

 Possible options of control cabins for foundry cranes:

  1. Heating: air curtain (3 kW, 220V) or fan heater (2х2kW, 220V or 2x2kW, 380V).
  2. Document pocket.
  3. Metal thermos for drinking with fastening.
  4. Windshield wiper with washer tank on the front window, extra installation on the side windows.
  5. Sun rolled curtains on all the upper windows.
  6. Radio, CD-player.
  7. Additional sockets.
  8. Intercom.
  9. Bell loud fight.
  10. Safe load indicator.
  11. Convertible seat of trainee.
  12. The pedal enabling sound alarm.
  13. Limit switch locking wicket of entrance platform.
  14. Control joysticks and other elements of command and control provided by the Customer in accordance with the electrical circuit.
  15. Indication panel on the rotary bracket.
  16. Metal first aid kit with a set of medicines.
  17. Operator control unit KP-4-250.
  18. Coat hook.
  19. Fire extinguisher with bracket.
  20. Climate control system with special air conditioning on 3kW, 380V.
  21. Removable side platform.
  22. Entrance platform with a wicket.
  23. Electrical cabinet according to information provided by the Customer electric scheme.
